The conference on the Concept of Community Colleges in Pakistan was held at Sukkur IBA University on January 9, 2018.The chief guest of the program was Jam Mehtab Dahar, Minister for Education and Literacy Department of Sindh.The Cultural Attaché US Consulate Karachi, Dr. Daniel Lee, President Johnson Community College USA Prof. Dr. Joseph M. Sopcich, Professor of English Dr. Beth Gulley, Vice Chancellor of Sindh University, Quid-e-Azam University, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Peshawar and others also spoke fluently about the concept and need of Community Colleges in Pakistan. Professor: Nisar Ahmed Siddiqui, Vice Chancellor Sukkur IBA University said Community Colleges are aimed at bridging the gap between rural and urban divide and to provide equal opportunities to the underprivileged students, who otherwise could not afford to go for the quality education.
All the Vice chancellors of the different universities assigned a title to Prof: Nisar Ahmed Siddique the pioneer and founding father for the concept of Community Colleges in the Pakistan. It was also realized that at least one community college should be opened in every district of Pakistan for the promotion of quality education following the model of IBA University Community Colleges in Sindh Province. Finally, round table discussion took place between the Academia and Industry and the event was concluded with distribution of souvenirs to the distinguished guests.
